Reminders from MHPR Staff:
- Our league is a recreational youth league.
- Our top priorities are:
- Supporting player's safety!
- Encourage players to have fun!
- Being active!
- Developing skills!
- Several of these policies have now been implemented to help our league reach these top priorities.
- Winning is not top priority.
- Any form of communication between officials, coaches, players, and spectators should be done in a respectful manner.
- Coaches, if you feel that a referee did not make a correct call at any point during the game the proper time to address the issue is after the game has completed and in a calm manner. The conversation should take place away from players and away from spectators.
- Sportsmanship needs to be demonstrated by coaches, players, spectators, and referees.
General Information: In any case no matter which division U6-U15, coaches and referees should be aware of injuries and follow protocols. Especially with head injuries and heat/cold related illnesses. It is MANDATORY to complete the Coaches Safety training provided by MHPR.
- Slide Tackling: not allowed.
- Headers: not allowed.
- High Kicks: not allowed.
- No goal keeper.
- Player on ground
- If a player is on the ground in the direct area of play, this becomes an unsafe area for play. The player on the ground is then putting all players in an unsafe environment. Player should cease to make an effort to move out the ball and immediately get up if able.
- An indirect kick will be awarded to opponents.

MHPR Sportsmanship Statement:
At Mountain Home Parks and Recreation, we strive to provide a fun environment for all participants! Sportsmanship covers multiple factors. Having a good attitude, showing fairness, and being honest, are just a few characteristics that we associate with sportsmanship.
We do not have score keepers/score boards in our leagues. Be considerate of your opponents. As a coach your goal should not be to run scores up as high as possible, but to make adjustments to give opponents a better chance to have a better game.
As a team you can accomplish this with these adjustments:
- Change your players' positions. Let your players learn new positions that they may need extra work in.
- Sub out your power players for players who need extra work.
- This isn't just meaning one power player at a time. Sub out as many as you can and let the players on your team who need extra work, get extra playing time.
- Encourage your players to "dial down" when necessary (up by 6 goals).
- You can do this when subbing out players, during breaks between quarters, or during halftime.
- With respect to the opponent, you and your players should not just holler to "dial down" to one another. Be discrete so that the opposing players can still stay confident during the games.
- An easy way to communicate this is by using a code name for it if you need to immediately implement "dial down" or "dial up".
- Use separate names for each instance. Tip: do not use names that are associated with a player on your team, for that can cause confusion.
- This is to be taught to your players before the first game, so that it can be implemented as soon as it is needed.

- Once/If the opponent comes back within four (4) goals, then communicate with your team nonchalantly to "dial up" with your code name.
- Overall, this helps to not discourage your opponents! We want everyone to have a good time! For a team who loses, losing by 4-6 goals is better than losing by 7+ goals.
- You can do this when subbing out players, during breaks between quarters, or during halftime.
