Description 
The CAD Draftsman is responsible for creating, updating, and modifying maps and technical drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems. This role supports engineering projects for the City, ensures compliance with regulations, and includes both field work and office duties. Professionalism and technical precision are critical in fulfilling these responsibilities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce CAD and manual drawings for City infrastructure projects.
  • Create and update maps and subdivision plats.
  • Conduct field visits to monitor construction sites.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance (ADEQ, EPA, AHTD).
  • Provide customer service and respond to inquiries.
  • Develop survey maps and layouts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with regulation agencies, builders, contractors, and the public.

Qualifications:

  1. Education and Experience
    • Completion of technical trade school in CAD, drafting, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  2. Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of CAD, manual drafting, cartography, civil engineering, and surveying practices.
    • Skills in reading construction drawings, using drafting software and plotters, conducting field surveys, and preparing technical drawings.
    • Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, maintain accurate records, and build productive working relationships
      Must obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire and be willing to work overtime as needed.
